I was married to a Gambian who was mad about football and we lived in Manchester. When going to visit his family back in Gambia he would always take gifts of football tops and his friends there would always ask him to bring them a football kit. He bought plain white t-shirts and black shorts for them once but they always wanted a proper kit and that was far too expensive for him so I hit on the idea of asking teams for used kits and got a good response so with trophies donated by my brother a tournament was ran. That was the start of it all. When I was alone again I kept up my links with Gambia
