A spokesman for Libya s rebels discussed the situation in the eastern coastal town of Brega on Wednesday as rebels clashed with Moammar Gadhafi troops for control of the town s oil refinery.\nThe Benghazi-based rebels military spokesman Colonel Ahmed Bani said the situation at the front was progressing and that the rebels were extremely organised.\nIn particular he said that in Brega the rebels control the third residential area and the second area is under our control too.\nHe said the rebels are fighting now to liberate the town s industrial area where the oil refinery petrochemical factories and the harbour are.\nOur strategy for liberating Brega won t change he added.\nBani also said Gadhafi s forces are using missiles which he said shows only the fear and desperation the regime is going through.\nMeanwhile a rebel doctor in Brega said the town s field hospital has been overwhelmed with casualties and that many of the wounded have been sent to Benghazi for treatment.\nHe said that as of Tuesday night 18 rebels had been killed and 74 injured.\nHundreds of miles away from the capital Tripoli the opposition is in control of most of the eastern half of Libya and has a transitional leadership council in the rebel de facto capital of Benghazi.
