16 Signal Regiment have returned to their base at Elmpt in Germany after a six-month tour of Afghanistan.\n\nMore than 400 soldiers marched onto a chilly Javelin Barracks parade ground to receive their operational medals. Awarding so many required three senior officers led by the Master of Signals Lt General Robert Baxter.\n\nThe Regiment has returned without losses but two soldiers were wounded but not seriously.\n \nThe Signals personnel were spread throughout Afghanistan from the capital Kabul to Helmand Patrol bases.\n \nFor signallers at Camp Bastion the most unexpected event was in September when insurgents attacked Britain's giant desert base.\n\n16 Signal Regiment now look forward to some well deserved leave and return to work next year.
