The wolves are howling tonight they've sniffed the air and caught the scent of my blood they're snapping at my heels I feel their breath on my neck Do I keep running or turn and face them? I could run forever avoid them and leave false trails but it would not be long before they come howling again Do I have enough time to gather up a small army of friends to turn and attack? And when they are all spent is the strength in me enough to conquer them on my own? Why should I keep running? I no longer doubt myself and neither do my army of friends It's time to stop, take a deep breath and fight Fight for my future a future that I want to be unhampered by howling wolves a future not devoted to running away but facing whatever obstacle presents itself I have conquered the howling wolves in the darkness of night and have turned to face the morning sky

Maybe if my leg was broken or I was diagnosed with a life threatening illness they would have cared more. It seems that mental illness does not have a place in this world. There are already too many 'freaks' suffering from it, one in five australians in fact. Sure the physical symptoms of depression may not kill me, but the emotional ones may.I know that I can be stronger and fight my depression, Iwant an education and a career, I never wanted to be a dropout. Finding the motivation to brush my teeth is a struggle, so you can imagine the pain I feel when people called me a faker. The inner sadness that engulfs me is phenomenal. Iwouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. Yet I would like to see some of the people who ridiculed me go through a fraction of what I have been through for a second and see how they would fight it. I like everybody else, has had problems in my life. My parents separating when I was young. I was followed home from school when day and bashed because some girls didn't like me. I've suffered the usual bitchiness and namecalling. the saying 'sticks and stones may break my bone but words will never hurt me' is so wrong. Being called a whore or slut while still being a virgin has left emotional scars that feel like they will be with me forever. A simple threat sends me into a hysterical state. while physical scars heal, emotionla ones are there to taunt you for life. Some people I have considered my 'best friends' have betrayed me. Many haven't called the whole time I have been sick. I'm forgotten now. I'm extremely lucky to have a caring and understanding family as wellas a boyfirend who would do anything to see me happy. I love them all so much. unfortunately you hurt the ones you love most. Your pain becomes directed at them and they cope the blame for all the shit the world has dealed out to you. I never wanted to hurt them. I hope they can forgive me. This was written during the darkest times of my depression. Three suicide attempts followed and my family helped me through them. I am now a happy 17 year old doing my HSC. The time of depression seem like a bad nightmare. I still can't believe what i went through and survived. There is always hope, for anyone. There is always someone there to listen.

Three young men were once given three kernels of corn apiece by a wise old sage, who admonished them to go out into the world, and use the corn to bring themselves good fortune. The first young man put his three kernels of corn into a bowl of hot broth and ate them. The second thought, I can do better than that, and he planted his three kernels of corn. Within a few months, he had three stalks of corn. He took the ears of corn from the stalks, boiled them, and had enough corn for three meals. The third man said to himself, I can do better than that! He also planted his three kernels of corn, but when his three stalks of corn produced, he stripped one of the stalks and replanted all of the seeds in it, gave the second stalk of corn to a sweet maiden, and ate the third. His one full stalk's worth of replanted corn kernels gave him 200 stalks of corn! And the kernels of these he continued to replant, setting aside only a bare minimum to eat. He eventually planted a hundred acres of corn. With his fortune, he not only won the hand of the sweet maiden but purchased the land owned by the sweet maiden's father. And he never hungered again. The more you give, the more you get. However, that should NOT be the reason for your giving. Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this right now. Lord, show them a new revelation of Your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace & mercy. Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence in Your ability to work through them. Where there is tiredness, or exhaustion, I ask You to give them understanding, patience, & strength as they learn submission to Your leading. Where there is spiritual stagnation, I ask You to renew them by revealing Your nearness, and by drawing them into greater intimacy with You. Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to them Your courage. Where there is a sin blocking them, reveal it, and break its hold over my friend's life. Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders, and friends to support, and encourage them. Give each of them discernment to recognize the demonic forces around them, and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it. I ask You to do these things in Jesus' name. Passing this on to anyone you consider a friend will bless you both. Passing this on to one not considered a friend is something I know Christ would do.
