arrow right If Tomorrow Never Comes

If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray The Lord, your soul to keep. If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time
I could spare an extra minute or two to stop and say

arrow right A Tug

In some circles it is not "politically correct" to be considered a "bloody" Christian who believes in eternal salvation, but I am guilty of believing that once saved, always saved. I have been cleansed by and washed in the blood of Jesus. Knowing this, gives me a peace of God and peace with God to pillow my head every night knowing that whether I go or whether I stay, I'm a winner either way.

Because I don't deserve His salvation and did not do anything to earn it, sometimes, though, I wake up not feeling saved and wondering why God it would please God to bruise His Son for me. When I do, I am reminded of a young boy, an older man, and an out-of-sight kite.

The story goes of a young boy flying a kite in the park one windy afternoon. The kite was so small and so high that an elderly man sitting on a bench watching him could not see the kite high in the heavens. After watching him a few minutes, he walked over asking the young boy what he was doing.

arrow right The Auction

The upstate NY man was rich in almost every way. His estate was worth millions. He owned houses, land antiques and cattle. But though on the outside he had it all, he was very unhappy on the inside. His wife was growing old, and the couple was childless. He had always wanted a little boy to carry on the family legacy.

Miraculously, his wife became pregnant in her later years, and she gave birth to a little boy. The boy was severely handicapped, but the man loved him with his whole heart. When the boy was five, his mom died. The dad drew closer to his special son. At age 13, the boy's birth defects cost him his life and the father died soon after from a broken heart.

The estate was auctioned before hundreds of bidders. The first item offered was a painting of the boy. No one bid. They waited like vultures for the riches.

Finally, the poor housemaid, who helped raise the boy and loved him, offered $5 for the painting and easily took the bid. To everyone's shock, the auctioneer ripped a hand written will from the back of the picture.

This is what it said:

arrow right In Hiding

A long time ago, education and religion went hand in hand, therefore many of the teachers were holy men. There once was one who was highly known and respected in his small. village. He had four students, but seemed prouder about one in particular. His other three students sensed this, and therefore one day, questioned him about his apparent show of favoritism. Being old and wise, the teacher decided to give them a test which would help them find their own answers to their question.
He called all four students together and he gave each one a chicken. He then told them that he wanted each one of them to take their chicken to a place where nobody could see them. Then kill the chicken, hide it, and return to the school. All four students grabbed their chickens and departed, each in a different direction.

“Well.” It did not take long for the three students who had questioned the teacher, to return. As the day began to drift away, they started to laugh and make fun of the student who had not returned. “They said he was dumb for not being able to complete such a simple task and return.”
Finally, around midnight, the fourth student returned to the school, still carrying his chicken. This really made the other students laugh, and they asked the teacher, “How can this possibly be your favorite and most obedient student?” The teacher turned to the fourth student and said “explain why you are still carrying the chicken.”

He replied......“forgive me teacher, but I could not find a place to do as you asked, because everywhere I went, “God” was there watching me!

The teacher smiled, and left for bed.

arrow right A Letter To You From Satan

I saw you yesterday as you began your daily chores. You awoke without kneeling to pray. As a matter of fact, you didn't even bless your meals, or pray before going to bed last night. You are so unthankful. I like that about you. I cannot tell you how glad I am that you have not changed your way of living. Fool! You are mine. Remember, you and I have been going steady for years, and I still don't love you yet. As a matter of fact, I hate you, because I hate God. I am only using you to get even with God. He kicked me out of heaven, and I'm going to use you as long as possible to pay him back.

You see, Fool, GOD LOVES YOU and HE has great plans in store for you. But you have yielded your life to me and I'm going to make your life a living hell. That way we'll be together twice. THIS WILL REALLY HURT GOD! Thanks to you. I'm really showing Him who's boss in your life. With all of the good times we've had..... We have been watching dirty movies, cursing people out, partying, stealing, lying, hypocriting, fornicating, overeating, telling dirty jokes, gossiping, back stabbing people, disrespecting adults and those in leadership position, NO respect for the church, bad attitudes: SURELY you don't want to give all this up!
COME ON, Fool, let's burn together forever. I've got some plans for us. This is just a letter of appreciation from me to you. I'd like to say

arrow right saint patrick's day bread with irish whiskey glaze

Saint Patrick's Day Bread with Irish Whiskey GlazePosted by Olga at recipegoldmine.com 2/7/2002 2:40 pmThis is a good basic recipe for breads made with liquor. It can be varied with bourbon, Cognac or Sherry. Currants, glaceed fruits and a variety of nuts can be substituted. It says to use 3 greased mini-loaf foil pans 6 x 3 x 2 inches, (I used instead an 8-inch square pan and made 1 cake. Test to see if done). 1/2 cup butter1 cup granulated sugar2 eggs1/4 cup Irish whiskey1/3 cup sour cream2 teaspoons vanilla extract1 3/4 cups flour2 teaspoons baking powder1 cup dark raisins1 cup chopped walnuts Beat the butter with the sugar add eggs, whiskey, sour cream and vanilla extract until blended. Combine and add the remaining ingredients and stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Do not overmix. Divide batter between 3 greased mini-loaf foil pans (6x3x2-inches) and bake in a 325 degree F oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a cake tester, inserted in center, comes out clean. Allow to cool in pans for 15 minutes and then remove from pans and continue cooling on a rack. When cool, drizzle tops with Irish whiskey glaze. Yields 3 mini-loaves. Irish Whiskey Glaze1 teaspoon Irish whiskey1 tablespoon cream (or evaporated milk)1 teaspoon melted butter2/3 cup sifted confectioners' sugar (more if needed) Stir together all the ingredients until blended. Sometimes I put these cakes in different pans and usually it takes about the same time. Baking time will vary keep checking after 30 minutes with cake tester to see if the cakes are done and watch for color. Some of these cakes cook at a low temperature and take longer to bake, just keep checking. The St. Patrick's Day cake uses 3 (6 x 3 x 2-inch pans). I used one 8 x 8-inch pan and instead of 325 degrees F, I put it up to 350 degrees F and it took about 30 minutes. Make sure you don't overbake them though. With all this in mind, a recipe, calling for 2 to 2 1/2 cups of flour can be baked in the following pan sizes. 4 (6 x 3 x 2-inch)mini loaf pans12 muffins (2 1/2 x 1 1/4-inch)2 (8 x 4-inch) loaf pans1 (9 x 5-inch loaf pan1 (10-inch) springform pan1 (10-inch) tube, kugelhopf, or decorative mold2 (10-inch) deerback loaf pans1 (9 x 13-inch) baking pan2 (8 x 8-inch) baking pan2 (10-inch) layer pans1 (10-inch) fluted deep quiche pan2 (1 1/2-quart) souffl? dishes1 (8 x 12-inch fluted baking pan2 (3-cup) heart molds

London Broil with Mushroom GravySource: missvickie.comThe ubiquitous London Broil, which is the name of a recipe and not a cut of beef, first appeared in the U.S. in the early 1930's and consisted of marinated flank steak, broiled and sliced thinly across the grain. Top round steak, a flank or chuck steak can be used in this fast pressure cooker method.2 pound boneless beef steak1 - 2 tablespoons olive oil1 onion, minced1/2 pound portobello mushrooms, sliced 3 cloves garlic, crushed1 teaspoon dried, crushed rosemary1/2 teaspoon black pepper1/2 cup red wine1 (14 ounce) can beef broth1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice2 tablespoons cornstarchHeat the oil in the pressure cooker and brown the meat on both sides and set aside.Saute the onion, mushrooms and garlic until slightly soft. Add the rosemary and black pepper. Deglaze the cooker with red wine. Add the beef broth and diced tomatoes. Return the steak to the cooker. Lock the lid in place. Bring to 15psi over high heat; immediately reduce the heat to the lowest possible setting to stabilize and maintain that pressure. Cook 15 -18 minutes. Use the natural release method to open the lid. Transfer meat to a cutting board; loosely tent with foil and let rest 10 minutes before slicing.Meanwhile, bring the broth to a simmer, uncovered, and adjust seasoning to taste. Mix the cornstarch with 1/3 cup water and stir into the broth. Reduce the heat and continue stirring as the gravy thickens. Do not boil. Thinly slice the meat and arrange on a platter, passing the mushroom gravy at the table.Serve with mashed potatoes or cooked noodles.

arrow right Diamond Earrings: Superiority and Endurance

"A diamond is forever," as the old saying goes. The late actress Marilyn Monroe said it best: "a diamond is a girl's best friend." So much tribute has been paid to the everlasting glory of the diamond, which is among the most valuable (and expensive!) precious stones in existence. Is it any wonder then that diamond jewelry is so fashionable? Diamond earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets ? many of these are regarded as works of art.The diamond is the most unadulterated of all the gemstones composed of a single pure element. It is also the hardest transparent substance that exists. It is for this that the diamond stands as a symbol of strength, purity of spirit, and even physical chastity.Diamond earrings first reached the height of fashion in Europe in the 18th century, just before the Renaissance era. To this day many people, even men, wear diamond earrings as a classy adornment. George Michael and Prince are only two of the many male celebrities who have been known to use diamonds as ear decorations. From time to time, David Beckham of soccer fame sports the odd diamond earring worth around $12,300.Diamonds emphasize superiority and endurance. Unlike pearls they do not trap light, but reflect them -- projecting not just a glow, but a finely subtle ray of light upon the bearer's features. The light reflected by a diamond earring is often caught in the wearer's eye, hence you might notice a crafty sparkle in the eyes of women who wear finely-cut genuine diamond earrings.Primarily, a diamond is graded by its 4 C's: the cut, clarity, color, and carat weight. These characteristics are taken into consideration in the crafting of the finest diamond earrings. Take these factors into consideration when picking out diamond jewelry.Diamond earrings make the best gifts for loved ones who have an eye for quality, and deserve only the best in life. These accessories speak of the wearer's high-class taste and love for things of beauty.Sam Serio is an Internet Marketer, musician and a writer on the subject of jewelry and gemstones. arrow right The Cleaning Lady

During my second month of nursing school, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?" Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

arrow right Death Row

A letter written to a man on death row by the Father of the man whom the man on death row had killed: You are probably surprised that I, of all people, am writing a letter to you, but I ask you to read it in its entirety and consider its request seriously. As the Father of the man whom you took part in murdering, I have something very important to say to you. I forgive you. With all my heart, I forgive you. I realize it may be hard for you to believe, but I really do. At your trial, when you confessed to your part in the events that cost my Son his life and asked for my forgiveness, I immediately granted you that forgiving love from my heart.

I can only hope you believe me and will accept my forgiveness. But this is not all I have to say to you. I want to make you an offer: I want you to become my adopted child. You see, my Son who died was my only child, and I now want to share my life with you and leave my riches to you.

This may not make sense to you or anyone else, but I believe you are worth the offer.

I have arranged matters so that if you will receive my offer of forgiveness, not only will you be pardoned for your crime, but you also will be set free from your imprisonment, and your sentence of death will be dismissed. At that point, you will become my adopted child and heir to all my riches.

I realize this is a risky offer for me to make to you -- you might be tempted to reject my offer completely -- but I make it to you without reservation. Also, I realize it may seem foolish to make such an offer to one who cost my Son his life, but I now have a great love and an unchangeable forgiveness in my heart for you.

Finally, you may be concerned that once you accept my offer you may do something to cause you to be denied your rights as an heir to my wealth. Nothing could be further from the truth. If I can forgive you for your part in my Son's death, I can forgive you for anything. I know you never will be perfect, but you do not have to be perfect to receive my offer.

Besides, I believe that once you have accepted my offer and begin to experience the riches that will come to you from me, that your primary (though not always) response will be gratitude and loyalty. Some would call me foolish for my offer to you, but I wish for you to call me your Father.

Love,

God

arrow right HAPPINESS

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his life would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color of the rainbow. Grand old trees graced the landscape, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the world outside. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it for himself. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said,
