arrow right Is Buddhism A Religion?

Buddhism is a teaching which has spread worldwide absorbing the culture of each country it arrived in, which has resulted in many expressions of Buddhism. Each strand, no matter how varied in nature and practice, holds a common emphasis on the impermanence of human life. The worldwide spread of Buddhism means that it is now practiced by over three hundred million people worldwide, and thus, is generally considered to be a world religion. However, its authenticity as a religion has often come under scrutiny by intellectuals in the Western world. To explore whether Buddhism can in fact be counted as a religion we must acknowledge that the main problems arise when looking for a definition of what a religion is. Either, definitions have proved too narrow excluding many belief systems which people believe are religious, or they become too broad which means that any structure can be counted. When applying varying definitions of religion to Buddhism we come up with some very contradictory answers; some which say that Buddhism is simply a philosophy or teaching, whilst others will prove that it is in fact, a religion in practice. To determine whether Buddhism is a religion or not, we must also note that we, as Westerners will have different views and concepts of religion to those practicing in the East. We must ask the question, is it even possible for Westerners to understand the religious life of Asia? What we view as Asian religion and religious activity is for most of the people practicing it a natural part of daily life; our ideas and concepts vary so greatly that perhaps someone observing Buddhism from a Western perspective may never truly grasp the religiosity of the group. For one attempting to provide a definition of religion these practices would need to be described in a manner which did not exclude one religion from the definition. There needs to be one thing that is attributed to all religions, a common factor. For many, the common factor is God. However, if we conclude that God is the focus of all religion then much of the material found in Asia must be excluded because there is no God here, and occasionally not even Gods. From the perspective that religion entails belief in a God, Buddhism is excluded from having the title of religion. Many outsiders to the Buddhist tradition may claim that the Buddha held some divinity and is elevated to a Godly position, but the Buddha himself refused to be regarded as divine. For the Buddha, humanity is here to improve ourselves and achieve liberation rather than worrying about ultimate questions. Buddhists would argue that knowledge of a God or the afterlife does not matter as neither help in the quest for nirvana. If Buddhism is not counted as a religion then what is it? Buddhism can be thought of as a way of life, a philosophy, a psychology, a way of thinking through which we can take responsibility for our present life and lives.Like all major religions Buddhism contains a morality, rituals and behaviours, certain ethical values and an origin of existence, yet because Buddhists do not believe in an all knowing creator God some claim that Buddhism fails to be a religion. The large variety of definitions of religion shows that we can never give a solid, one answer description of what it is that religion is and does.We must remember that previously Buddhism has many names such as the Buddha's teaching or message, or the Buddha's way or the path of attainment. Although the religious status of Buddhism has come under constant attack, we could argue that the questioning is in fact, not necessary. If we were able to ask the Buddha if Buddhism was in fact a religion or not he would probably answer with the response that it does not matter. To the Buddhist, their beliefs are essentially a philosophy by which individuals can attain release from the world of karma and rebirth. Knowing whether or not Buddhism is a religion or not cannot lead to salvation, only through practice and understanding can one be led to a happiness which is not transient. For more information, news and articles on Buddhism, visit Buddhism News.Copyright © 2005, buddhismnews.com. arrow right What They Mean By Child-Like Faith

Prv:18:2 A Fool Receiveth Not The Words Of Prudence: Unless Thou Say Those Things Which Are In His HeartSo what does that say about us? We all like to be told we're right. We all like to hear how smart we are. We all want confirmation. Most of us hate it when someone points out when we're wrong. If you pick up the Bible, and don't come away thinking yourself a fool, you're not paying attention. Because every book of the Bible is full of passages that show us how foolish we are. The book of proverbs particularly points out our intellectual limitations.Does God really have a fetish for identifying our flaws? Like a father who can never admit his son turned out all right? Yes and no. It all hangs on that quote from Christ: "Mk:10:15 Amen I say to you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall not enter into it."A lot of people misinterpret that to mean learning and understanding our faith is fruitless. They confuse the word "childlike" for "simplistic", but the two have very different meanings. Anyone who has children realizes that they aren't simple at all. But what about them are we suppose to imitate? The Father / Son RelationshipRemember that Christ compares God's relationship with us to the relationship between a father and son. In this case, the son would be a child. And a child has to rely on the wisdom and knowledge of his father for everything he has (remember that when Jesus is speaking, the father was the common provider in the household).Providing is only one of the father's functions. A good father guides his son to safety, and sometimes forces him there. Why? Because a child doesn't always know what will harm him and what won't. The child thinks he wants cookies for supper?the father knows that this would harm him. The obedient son accepts his father's authority, even if he doesn't understand it.But the ignorance doesn't release the child from responsibility. The father might use his authority to lay a foundation, but expects the son to some day understand the reasons behind his actions. The father expects his son to grow and mature?but always realize his own inferiority to the father. Always ready to accept his father's direction. It's the same with God and us. We're not so much commanded to accept our foolishness (or simplicity) but to realize it and accept the Christ's authority when we disagree. Sometimes this means accepting the rule of Christ's Church, and is an act of will. Sometimes, it's forced upon us. Like when we face some disaster and wonder "How could God let this happen to me?"This is what it means to have child-like faith. This is how we'll enter into heaven. And this is why the Bible constantly points out our foolishness. Because in the shadow of God, our own intellect and knowledge of what's good for us isn't always focused. And the more we realize it, the more it becomes our duty to gain that understanding, but accept authority until we do.This article was written by Eric Engel from http://copyforsale.com where you can find free religious articles for your newsletter and website.

arrow right Who Me? Wear a Clerical Shirt?

Clothing says a great deal about one's profession, and this is no less the case with ministers of the Gospel. The special shirt that ministers wear outside of worship services is known as a clerical shirt or collar shirt, which typically is black or another color with a white collar (sometimes affectionately referred to as a "dog collar"!).The wearing of special ministerial clothing has a long and distinguished history, and is found throughout Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions. While there have been many variations in clerical dress over the centuries, the rationale for wearing special clothing has to do with the minister's professional role and function. A collar shirt lets people recognize him or her as an ordained clergyperson.Clerical clothes can "open doors" in many ministry settings for you, such as in hospitals where staff members wear uniforms that identify their respective professions. Visits to congregants' or parishioners' homes during times of illness, tragedy, or death can also be enhanced when you wear clothes that are a reminder of your Christian witness and purpose. And when traveling, you might have the opportunity to share your faith with strangers who strike up a conversation because you have on a collar shirt. While clerical dress is certainly not for all ministers, take a moment to think about how occasionally wearing a black shirt with a white collar might prove to be a useful tool in your ministry. Who knows? You might just find yourself able to connect with others and spread the Gospel in new and exciting ways!George Zgourides, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist and healthcare chaplain from Texas. arrow right Denominations Gone Wild: What Happened To Unity?

The Bible teaches that Christians ought to practice a single faith. It reads: "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all

arrow right In Divers Places

Isaiah 65:17-65:25In Divers Places. A Look at prophecy and today's headlines. How many here today know what the word Prophecy actually means? For a number of years now, I along with many other ministers have been teaching prophecy more and more. From Websters 1828 Dictionary; Prophecy PROPH'ECY, n. [Gr. to foretell, before and to tell. This ought to be written prophesy.]1. A foretelling; prediction; a declaration of something to come. As God only knows future events with certainty, no being but God or some person informed by him, can utter a real prophecy. The prophecies recorded in Scripture, when fulfilled, afford most convincing evidence of the divine original of the Scriptures, as those who uttered the prophecies could not have foreknown the events predicted without supernatural instruction. 2 Pet 1.2. In Scripture, a book of prophecies; a history; as the prophecy of Ahijah. 2 Chr 9.3. Preaching; public interpretation of Scripture; exhortation or instruction. Prov 31.Asia quake toll continues to rise. Rescuers piled up bodies along coastlines devastated by tsunamis that obliterated seaside towns in Asia and Africa, killing 23,700 people in 10 countries, the United Nations reported Monday.Ukraine election challenged Can earthquakes be tamed? Deaths in Indonesia alone could surpass 200,000 official says. Devastation on a biblical scale.Teaching prophecy is different than to prophsi. 1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:[ many do not believe in the Gifts of the Spirit, which sometimes makes it hard for those of use who do, to teach prophecy]Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.[ many say that revelations has been fulfilled already, this is a misconception and very dangerous]I am not here today to prophecy but to shine light on Biblical prophecy. Lets read and learn together. Isa 28:2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand. Isa 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. [M.H. Isa 65:17-25 -In the grace and comfort believers have in and from Christ, we are to look for this new heaven and new earth. The former confusions, sins and miseries of the human race, shall be no more remembered or renewed. The approaching happy state of the church is described under a variety of images. He shall be thought to die in his youth, and for his sins, who only lives to the age of a hundred years. The event alone can determine what is meant; but it is plain that Christianity, if universal, would so do away violence and evil, as greatly to lengthen life. In those happy days, all God's people shall enjoy the fruit of their labours. Nor will children then be the trouble of their parents, or suffer trouble themselves. The evil dispositions of sinners shall be completely moritified; all shall live in harmony. Thus the church on earth shall be full of happiness, like heaven. This prophecy assures the servants of Christ, that the time approaches, wherein they shall be blessed with the undisturbed enjoyment of all that is needful for their happiness. As workers together with God, let us attend his ordinances, and obey his commands.[additional ref; Isa 65:17-19 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. Jos 14:9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God. Remember that God created good and not evil.Man corrupted the earth and it must be cleansed. If you noticed in Genesis every thing that God created He called good except when He came to man, for He knew that man would become disobedient and corrupt.Eze 39:14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.Pro 8:23 I was set up5258 from everlasting,4480, 5769 from the beginning,4480, 7218 or ever4480, 6924 the earth776 was.[Strongs #s]Mat 24:6-8 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. "but the end is not yet." The end of what? Many take this as to mean the end of the world. This is not so, the world will not be destroyed but renovated. Isa 24:6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.Isa 14:7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing. Isa 24:1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.Isa 24:19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.Isa 24:20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. There are countless scriptures that state that the earth will last for eternity but it will be cleaned by fire to renew it back to its origional state. God declaired that what He created was good and no where in scripture have I ever found that God ever destroyed that which was good.[ ref.Gen.1:1-10] These next verses are also prophecy. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.Luke 21:20-28 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.]Prophecy is being fulfilled before our very eyes. Petulance and famine in Africa, Floods and earth quakes in Japan, Indonesia and even in the United States. Wars and roomers of Wars, from Iraq and Afghanistan to Africa and the Russian Satellites. How much more do the people of the earth have to see before they realize that the end is drawing closer each day? How much more do the people of the earth have to see before they turn to the only one who guarantees safety? How much more do the people of the earth have to see before they realize that there is another side of Jesus? Jesus will return but not as a babe, not as a Lamb but as a Warier in revenge for unbridled sin and corruption. A destroying angle bringing justice and righteousness upon the earth. How much more do the ministers of God have to see before they also start teaching prophecy, especially those that believe that Revelations is fulfilled? How much more? Eze 27:34 In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.Jer 25:30 Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."Therefore prophesy thou against them all." "The sea and the waves roaring;" " This is the Beginning of Sorrows." "Men's hearts failing them for fear." " In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas.""Key words from God Key words from God. Doom and gloom? No. Truth. The LORD shall roar from on high, and His words shall be fulfilled. Its time we all shouted the warning, Christ will not terry much longer.Temple of Spirit & Truth Ministries A.R.Smith Sermons International http://www.ourchurch.com/member/a/arsmithsermons/

arrow right Sex, Lies, & Videotape; Part 2

Acts 5:1-5:10 Sex, Lies and Videotape Part 2. Lies. What are lies? Is a lie an untruth, an omission of all the facts, is it a sin or unrightiouness, is it something that people use to cover-up lawlessness , or is a lie when you withhold all the facts? Yes, to all the above. A lie is a degration of ones own spirit, it gets into a persons attitude and lingers there like a leach, draining the lifes force out of them so that after a while, it becomes second nature not to tell the truth.Sometimes people lie so much they begin not to be able to know the difference between the lie and the truth. Reality becomes second nature to them and they start living in their own little world, a dream world where everything is perfect. Lies are not a short time hurt but can become a destructive force in a persons life that affects them for years to come. A lie told 30 years ago can affect someone today. There are many descriptions of lies in scripture, it is also one of the original 10 Commandments.Have you ever wondered why God placed a lie as a part of His commandments, as something not to do? " Thou shalt not bear false witness." Well it's because of its great impact upon the human being, short term and long term. Yes it it unrightiouness and a sin, but it reaches farther than that. It destroys a persons confidence in mankind and Satan uses them to destroy mankinds faith and belief in God. Let's look at lies and their consequences, from the scriptures point of view. One of the most reccognised lies in scripture are the ones from Acts 5:1-10.Anania S and Sapphira were new converts to the church and not rooted and grounded in the word. They still had one foot in the world and one foot at the cross. Lies are generally a product of a persons imagination, trying to better themselves thru deception. As we know Ananias and his wife sold a possession, and as the scriptures state that what ever belongs to an individual, he has the right to do with it as he pleases. Now some people take this a little too far.I've known men who use this scripture in their every day lives, as an excuse not to support their families, they say, "Well I worked for my money and I can do with it as I like." A little far fetched isn't it? But it's going on in this world today. I've generally found out that people who brag about what they know about the Bible, generally don't know much at all. "A man that thinks He knows something, Knows nothing. "When Ananias sold the possession, the money obtained was still his. He had the Biblical right, to give the apostles what he thought was fair. He could have given 10% of the money and been in good shape. His heart as was his wives, was not right with God. They were still thinking in the carnal mind and not in the spiritual. This is where we as christians sometimes get ourselves into trouble. The Bible states that,

arrow right Politics and Christianity

Revelation 20:1-20:10Politics and Christianity - there has been many an article about this past election. Some, praising Christians and some condemning them. As for me being a Minister, I'm disappointed in both sides.Politics have no place in the Church. Jesus would not have voted for neither. 2Ti 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. Our war is with the spirit and not with the flesh. God ordains the Powers that be. Vote, but don't get involved in all the rhetoric, the damage has been done, its time to repair it.Our missions as Christians:1. Worship God. 2. Preach the Gospel. 3. Be instant in season and out of Season 4. Seek out the LostIf the Church just did as our Lord commanded, it would not have brought this hate toward Christians. Politicians speak of peace in the Middle East, but the Christian community should know better. Look at God's prophecy for the Middle East. Rev 20:1-10Rev 20:1-10 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were behead-ed for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Let me ask a question now that you've heard these passages from Revelations. Do you really believe that John in the Revelation of Jesus Christ to the Church is True? How many says yes? Raise your hands. Then how can we believe any politician that says that there is going to be peace in the Middle East? John said in just these few passages that "And I saw", John was stating facts, a future presentation of war and destruction in the Middle East.1."And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand." 2. "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them." 3. "I saw the souls of them that were be-headed for the witness of Jesus." I had a brother, the other day; tell me that He doesn't read prophecy because He can't do anything about it. This is a common mistake that many Christians make.Prophecy is as important as the rest of Scripture. Warning after warning from Christ about the impending destruction of the enemies of Israel, and still many want to ignore the facts of the Bible. Many churches will not even acknowledge that the Book of Revelations is for our time. Many clame that the Book of Revelations has been fulfilled. Paul even warned us not to be deceived by any means. 2Th 2:1-4 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. We as Christians from time to time make mistakes and as Paul states many time and even Our Lord Jesus stated, none of us are perfect only God Himself is perfect. Let us learn from our mistakes and go out into the world and proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.Time is running out and we all must be about our Fathers business. Luke 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Our Lord commands us, to seek out the Lost for Gods Kingdom, and Brothers and Sisters that is a fulltime job. 2Co 7:8 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. Let us now all, be about our Fathers business and start repairing the damage that has been done, learn from mistakes, repent, bear the burden and go on.James 5:8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.Lift up you eyes Children, Our Repentance Draweth nigh. Here is an artical that was posted in a local paper, I thought it reflects the trend among Christians; Politics shouldn't be preached at church. In response to condolences to Democrats of Nov. 5, 2004, my condolences now go out to your church, or maybe I should say lack of churches.I have lived a rather long life as men go. I have never heard as much perverted gospel coming from pulpits. Many have taken the grace of God and turned it into a Republican campaign gathering. When anything is preached other than the gospel from the pulpit, it becomes a cult. When anyone is preached except Jesus Christ, he becomes the anti-Christ. (The word anti in this case means instead of -- in place of.) Read I John 2:18.

arrow right Homo-sexuality and Christianity

Romans 1:16-1:32. Can there be a compromise between the two: can a gay person become a christian and still retain a gay life style? It seems that the last twenty years has been a difficult time for Christians and especially ministers. The social impact on ministries has been a large one. There have been many that have tried to get the church to under go a change in its approach to sin.Evangelists have a different style of preaching than the ministers or pastors of the church based ministry. The evangelist has been given by the spirit a unique approach to delivering the gospel. It's a type of hell fire and brimstone approach. The evangelist works well on the topics of the day and at times is ridiculed by not only the lost but sometimes by the church. Doesn't the scriptures state that, we all minister, with the ability that has been given to us? Yes it does. There have been articles in the papers, lately, talking about christians in some churches, that want us to be more tolerant to the gay community's and accept them as christians in our churches. But my question, knowing the scripture, is this, 'Where in scripture does Jesus say that a christian, can willfully sin and disregard the laws of God?' It Doesn't. This has become a unpopular topic with a lot of christians, it seems that no one wants to express their opinion on the subject. Where does Jesus say that ministers would be popular or even accepted in a sinful society? Jesus told the disciples, which, by the way were ministers and preachers also, when you go into a city and was not accepted, brush the dust off your feet as a testimony AGAINST them. The society today, thou, wants us to be, religious and sin tolerant, toward any one with opposing view points. I'm not pointing out any particular church or organization, I'm pointing out what Jesus told us, that would happen.

Revelation 6:2-6:8.I will bring thee down, saith the LORD. Revelation: Something disclosed, especially something not previously known or realized: disclosure, exposé, exposure, and revelation. Apocalyptic eschatology is marked by the conviction that God will intervene decisively in the present evil age and vindicate his suffering elect over their oppressors, raising the dead, consigning the wicked to eternal destruction, and establishing a new creation. In the Bible, apocalyptic elements are present in the books of Ezekiel, Isaiah, Joel, Zechariah, and Daniel. The collection known as the Pseudepigrapha[1. arrow right Jesus Christ: The First, The Last, The Eternal

Luke 17:20-17:24 Jesus Christ. The First, The Last, The Eternal. Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. There are many times in our lives where we ask ourselves the question;"What is my purpose in Life?" And there are some who make a living, telling others exactly what it is. Many write books covering the subject and others make movies and presentations, but none really address the answer very clearly. Haven you seen time after time children killing themselves because they say that there is no purpose in their lives? The demands of this life time and especially of this upcoming generation is weighing down many a persons spirit, cutting them to the bone, not leaving them any recourse but to go with the flow, being swept away with peer pressure and company abuse. So what is the answer, is it in a book, a movie, a presentation or a single mans idea of life? No, The answer is in Jesus. Lets read a little Scripture and look at the Son of Man.Luke 17:20-24, And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.Counselors, psychriacrist and others say they know what people need, but they never mention Jesus. Jesus, The Son of Man, Son of God, Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Word, The Prince of Peace, The Lord of The Sabbath, The Christ, The Seeker of the Lost, The Avenger, The Rewarder, The First, The Last, The Eternal, The Faithful Witness,The First Begotten of the Dead, The prince of the Kings of the Earth, The Bright and Shining Star, The Alpha, The Omega, The First, The Last, The Morning Star, The Holder of The Key of David, and the Amen. Man writing book after book explaining what our purpose is in this life, giving us, theology, terminology, making trees, animals and even man gods to pray to and seek healing from. False hope, false doctrine, Idol worship and man science.Trying to explain our origin from science, evolution and revolution, new wave religions that can neither hear nor answer prayer. Mankind building up man as a demigod, searching our purpose from the stars and from the Big Bang Theory.Mat 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.Matthew 11:27 is a perfect place to start finding your purpose on this earth. You must be known of The Father, you must be recognized by the All Mighty, without Him there is no purpose in your life, except to die and be judged. Is your purpose in life to posses? James 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Jer 17:11 As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.Luke 12:19-20 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? The Bible says no.[Ref.Jam_1:6, Jam_1:7; Job_27:8-10, Job_35:12; Psa_18:41, Psa_66:18, Psa_66:19; Pro_1:28, Pro_15:8; Pro_21:13, Pro_21:27; Isa_1:15, Isa_1:16; Jer_11:11, Jer_11:14, Jer_14:12; Mic_3:4; Zec_7:13;]Is our purpose in life to receive Glory from our name and position in life? John 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. 1Co 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; 2Co 12:6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. Gal 5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. Phi 3:18-19 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) Well the Bible says no, mans glory is fading and foolish to try to achieve. Is our purpose in life to gain riches? Jesus said; "Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!" "the deceitfulness of riches" Luke 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 1Ti 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; James 5:2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Rev 18:15-17 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, Well again the Bible says no. So then you ask, "What is our purpose in life and who is this Son of Man, Jesus Christ?" The answer is simple; Romans12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Our purpose in Life is to be a living sacrifice to God, to seek His Glory, His Wisdom, His Knowledge, His Acceptance as Children of The Almighty. Our purpose in Life is to Serve as our Saviour Served. Then can we also say that our purpose in life is not to be subject to ordinances?Col 2:20-23 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honor to the satisfying of the flesh. Can we also say then, that this Son of Man is a living word from God that is a guide to righteousness, to Glory, to Honor, to Life, not as we know it but a life eternal in Spirit and not in the flesh? A regenerative Spirit that leads us to God?Mat 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; Mat 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. Mat 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.Mat 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. arrow right The Snake Charmers - Part 1

2 Kings 9:30-9:36. How many her today believe in the existence of, witches, war-locks and sorcerers? If you noticed, my hand was up first. Now were not talking about halloween and spook-s and goblins. witches with bumps on their noses, flying brooms or black cats or anything the like. I'm talking about, Spell Casters and Po-shun Makers and Predictors, Psychics, Mediums, Numerology, Astrology-st, Horoscope Writers, Satan Worshipers, Observers of Times, Diviners believe it or not the world is full of such people, that believe in what their doing.I took a quick glance on the internet and found that there were; 2,197,261 sites containing witches. 110,157 sites containing war-locks. 2,006,921 sites containing witchcraft. 1,119,088 sites containing Satan Worshipers, and the list goes on and on. The question today is, Does God acknowledge the existence of such people in the Bible? The answer is yes, over and over again. Where you ask? Lets read a little scripture. Ex. 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. Deu.18:10-12 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Jer. 27:9 Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviner-s, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanter-s, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon. Isa. 8:19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? [Other references. And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master? And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs. And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot. And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king's daughter. And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel. 2Ki. 9:37 And the carcass of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel. The most exciting verse in scripture concerning witches is here. Exo. 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. Lev 19:14 Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.Cursed for speaking to the dead.1Sa 28:7-20; Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? And Saul sware to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? And the LORD hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the LORD hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbor, even to David: Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day. Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines. Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night. Can we speak to the dead? Yes. Will we be cursed By God for doing so? Yes. Witches, war-locks and sorcerers , a present danger to all of us, not just the Christian but also to the lost. bring their sorcery to our children, teaching them un-Godly things that should be buried with them. Deceivers and snake charmers that inhabit the world, there are many in India that today are worshiping snakes, because of the witches influence over them. arrow right Armor-bearer Coach: Step Into the Ministry of Assisting

I am with you heart and mind..."Do all that you have in mind," his armorbearer said, "Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul." ?1 Samuel 14:7.Have you ever had an overwhelmingly trouble-filled day, where circumstances seem to be against you on all sides? Look in on young Prince Jonathan (son of King Saul) on just that kind of day. It is a known fact his boss who was his father had backslidden from God. His dad had counted only 600 soldiers left from his 3,000-member army. He had just gotten the news that three war parties were dispatched from the enemies' camp.On top of those facts, the Philistines had banned blacksmiths in the land of Israel. Therefore, there was not a single sword or spear in the entire army of Israel that day, except his own and his father's. A day or so later, Prince Jonathan decided to go over to the enemy's camp with his armorbearer to spy out the camp. He did not tell anyone where they were going. They crossed a narrow pass between two steep cliffs. Upon arriving, he said to his armorbearer, "Let's go over to those heathen, maybe the Lord will do a miracle. It doesn't matter to him how many is in their army." His armorbearer said, "Yes! Do whatever is in your mind. I am with you heart and soul."The rest is history. Prince Jonathan and his armorbearer climbed over the cliff and killed about twenty men who fell left and right. After that, panic struck the entire Philistine army and at that same moment, a great earthquake came. The Philistines began killing each other in confusion. The Lord saved Israel that day through a man of God and his armorbearer.14Have you been appointed to support someone in your leadership? Is your heart set toward helping this person accomplish their God-given tasks? If the answer is yes, then you are not alone. All over the Body of Christ, God continues to make specific appointments of helpers to assist His authorities. As an administration of the Helps ministry, He has uniquely formed the armorbearer's place in His support system. It is a part of His design for a team to strengthen His leaders.Recently, I listened to a friend complain about a Church project using a well-used phrase, "There are too many chiefs and not enough Indians around here. It seems everyone wants to be in charge." My mind drifted as I thought, "How many times have I heard this complaint about various teams over the years. I thought about the need of understanding God's authority structure. It is not a new struggle nor is it isolated to the New Testament Church, as I considered Moses and Aaron's conflict with Israelite grumblers. They had complained against the leadership of Moses and especially Aaron saying, "We are all chosen and holy, who set you above all the Israelites?"Under Old Testament law, judgment and destruction came to many of those who complained. God, in His mercy, approved Aaron's leadership with a budded, blossoming staff with ripe almonds hanging from it among the staffs that stayed the same. He then graciously reiterated the duties of the leaders and the supporters.1 It is a fact, not everyone is called to be a leader at the same time. Someone must lead and others must follow. From Scripture, we discovered God appoints leaders and those to support them. When Jonathan is found on top of the hill spying out the enemy's camp, we don't have to look very far to find his helper. He was there with him. Scripture says Jonathan turned to his armorbearer and said, "Let's go up?" His assistant's response was, "Do all that is in your mind. For I am with you heart and soul." 2 Those words are music to any leader's ears, whether he is a weary church leader or a pastor needing an arm of support. I believe the Body of Christ needs those who will support the man or woman of God in a more tangible way. God is looking for people who will be with their assigned leader heart and soul. With any ministry, gift, or talent God has entrusted us to use, we must develop it to reach its fullest potential. To develop the ministry of helping as an armorbearer, do this:· Build relationship. Get to know whom you are serving. Relationship will guard you. For example, one key thing relationship will guard you against are the baits of Satan (offenses). When he comes to distort the truth about your authority, you can say, "I know this person there must be a reason for this." Your leader may do the same for you through relationship.· Personalize your service. What one leader desires will be different from another. Each pastor or leader has a different set of gifts and needs of service than another. Learn what your leader's are and personalize your service. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you. Be attentive to his promptings. He will teach you what works best for your authority.· Be pure in your service. Make sure your service is to your leader's benefit. For example, a pastor friend of mine expressed her disappointment at the immaturity of her assistant. She explained, "My armorbearer insisted she come to my speaking engagement for support. I said great, and then she asked if I would pick her up, which was fine but on the way, I interpreted two dreams, counseled her, and prayed with her before arriving at the meeting. I was drained before I made it to the platform." I agreed with my friend's frustration regarding the assistant's lack of consideration for her need. Remember, there is a time and place for everything. Allow your concerns and needs to take a backseat to discerning your leader's need. God is faithful; as you plant seeds of excellent service in your leader's life, He will remember to take care of you.· Wear Godly garments. Be careful of the attitude you wear when serving your leader. One of my team leaders says often, "I am careful of my attitude and mindset when I serve my leaders because whether I intend to or not I often transfer it to them. I don't want them to have to guard against receiving a bad attitude from me." If we strive to wear a garment of humility, kindness, and congeniality, our leaders may safely trust themselves to us.· Develop loyalty in your ministry. Determine to be where your assigned leader is. Have you considered where Joshua was when Moses went up the mountain to receive the law of God? We can only assume he was somewhere close by because he was right there with him when he came off the mountain forty days later. Remember, how can your ministry to him or her be developed if you are not in place?· Develop a watchful spirit. Jesus said to his assistants on the first night of his trial, "Watch and pray?" Yet, they were unable to stay awake to watch. He then gave us the key to a watchful spirit in His last words to them saying, "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." 13 If it is your hour of trial or your leader's hour of trial, determine to build your spirit so that you may remain alert and prayerful. Our leaders are calling for us. They are looking for someone who will commit to the long-term. There are pastors and leaders who are weary in the fight because we have not taken our place. We must take our place as God appointed armorbearers, assistants, and helpers in His army. God will hold us accountable for the support that should have been given if that leader fails because of it.About the Author Earma Brown, Dallas, TX, USA Most leaders need a strong team of support. arrow right Water Into Wine: The Meaning of Jesus First Miracle

The second chapter of John's Gospel offers a most interesting account of the beginning of Jesus's ministry of miracles and teaching. Yet, where is John going with this, and why did he include it? But before we undertake to solve this mystery, let us first read the text in question.John 2:1-11 [with comments in brackets] reads:And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called [i.e. invited], and his disciples [also], to the marriage. And when they wanted [i.e. ran out of] wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him,

The Right of Passage. by Rev. Anthony SmithIsaiah 64:6-64:6 In this world today there are many rights of passage from boyhood to manhood, different cultures and different ways. Many are extremely dangerous. For one reason or another these rights of passage became into being and very popular. Most of them come about because of cults and witchcraft. Many of these rights end up with the death of the participant, many with the foreknowledge of the parents. The right of Passage that I want to speak of today is Sainthood. I have no intention of putting anyone down for their belief's but to enlighten all in the word of God. For it doesn't matter what you believe, what matters is what the Word of God says. Did you ever wonder what or whom a Saint is? The dictionary says a saint is; "A person officially recognized, especially by canonization,[To declare (a deceased person){ The Apostle Paul wasn't talking to dead people when He called them Saints, was He?} to be a saint and entitled to be fully honored as such. To include in the biblical canon. To include in a literary canon. To approve as being within canon law. To treat as sacred; glorify{ The Bible says to Glorify God, not man}.], as being entitled to public veneration and capable of inter-ceding for people on earth. An extremely virtuous person." As I looked at this definition, I thought, "If this is a saint then were all in trouble." Do I really need to be, canonized, officially recognized, an intercessor for people or an extremely virtuous person to be a saint ? And believe it or not I found the answer was NO. I found that anyone can be and are Saints of God. Weather man, recognizes, qualifies, justifies, or puts a good housekeeping seal of approval on it. I know your going to ask,"Who then is a Saint?" The answer, Everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, thats who. Lets look at "A person officially recognized " Officially recognized by who? Man? And if so, where did this authority come from, man or God? If from God then where in scripture is it found? Then if its from man, do they over-step their authority that only comes from God? An intercessor for people? 1Ti 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;. Is there another intercessor or mediator, between God and Man except Jesus? If so, again where is His authorization, where does it come from? So what is the right of passage for a Saint? "keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." Lets read a little. Saints, saints, saints There are 95 verses in Scripture that declair, who is a Saint by the Standards of God and not man. Mat 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,Where these people canonized? No, recognised ? Yes by God. Acts 9:13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: What about these people? Canonized? No. Recognized ? Yes by God. Act 9:32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda. Or these? Canonized? No. Recognized ? Yes by God. And what about an extremely virtuous person?, The Apostle Paul never once said, that He was, nor anyone else in Scripture ever call Paul "an extremely virtuous person" 1Ti 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Acts 26:10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. I thought "an extremely virtuous person" had to be a righteous person? So what does God have to say about our righteousness? Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. So then we ask ourselves, Do we worship or pray to Saints? No. The Bible is very, very clear on this matter. Mat 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Eph 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Col 1:2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. I know that there are some who will say," We are just honoring them." Thats OK. but who do we honor according to scripture? In the New Testament the word Honor is mentioned 50 times.1 Peter 2:17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. 2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Rom 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. 1Co 12:23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. Romans 2:10 But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: So what am I actually saying about Saints and men who worship them and pray to them and hold them higher than others? Saints are called, predestinated, Justified and glorified-only by God. Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. We are all Saints whom believe in the name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We need no other justification than our Faith in Him. It doesn't need to be written down in mans books, that will perish away at the end of all things but we are written down in a Book that will never perish and never fade away. The Lambs Book of Life. So what is our right of Passage from sinner to saint? John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. arsTemple of Spirit & Truth Ministries A.R.Smith Sermons International http://www.ourchurch.com/member/a/arsmithsermons/
