Popcorn StarletsThis recipe is from the American Pop Corn Company. The recipe is courtesy of Schaller Popcorn Days, Schaller, Iowa.1 1/2 quarts popped Jolly Time? popcorn1 (14 ounce) bag caramels, unwrapped3 tablespoons half-and-half1 tablespoon butter or margarine1  teaspoon rum flavoringAbout 48 pecan halves1/2 cup canned chocolate fudge frostingPlace popped popcorn in a large bowl. In medium saucepan over low heat, heat caramels, half and half and butter until caramels are melted, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Stir in rum flavoring. Pour caramel mixture over popcorn and toss to coat well. Arrange pecan halves in groups of 3 on a greased baking sheet. Working quickly, spoon heaping tablespoonful of popcorn mixture onto the center of each pecan group. Spoon frosting into a small saucepan; place over low heat until softened. Spoon over each mound of popcorn. Store in a cool place.Makes about 16.

Poppycock2 cups light brown sugar, packed1 cup margarine1/2 cup light corn syrup1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar1 teaspoon baking soda14 cups popped corn8 ounces cashews or other favorite nutsCombine first 4 ingredients and cook at high temperature, stirring constantly for 5  minutes. Add baking soda and remove from heat. Pour over popcorn and nuts and stir. Bake at 300 degrees F for 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes.Makes 14 cups.For a flavor change, use dark brown sugar and dark corn syrup.

Ribbon-o-Fudge Popcorn Bars2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips2 tablespoons shortening3 tablespoons butter or margarine4 cups miniature marshmallows1 cup butterscotch chips3 quarts popped cornIn a microwave or double boiler, melt chocolate chips and shortening.  Chill for 15 to 20 minutes or until thickened.Meanwhile, line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil; grease the foil and set pan aside.In a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Stir in marshmallows and butterscotch chips until melted and smooth.Place the popcorn in a large bowl; add marshmallow mixture and toss until coated. Firmly press half of the popcorn mixture into prepared pan. Spread chocolate mixture evenly over popcorn. Firmly press remaining popcorn mixture over chocolate. Chill for 30 minutes.Lift out of pan, using foil edges. Remove foil; cut into bars.Yields 2 dozen.

Spun Pink Cinnamon Popcorn8 cups popped corn3/4 cup granulated sugar1/4 cup light corn syrup3 tablespoons water1 tablespoon red cinnamon candyPreheat oven to 325 degrees F.Place popped corn in large buttered bowl and set aside.Combine remaining ingredients in small  saucepan. Heat slowly to boiling point, stirring constantly. Cook without stirring to 285 degrees F (soft crack stage on candy thermometer). Remove from heat at once and drizzle over popcorn, stirring to coat evenly. When well mixed, pour onto buttered cookie sheet and place in oven for about 10 minutes to crisp corn.Separate kernels when cool enough to handle.

Sugar and Spice Popcorn1/4 cup vegetable oil3 tablespoons granulated sugar1/4 teaspoon cinnamon1/4 teaspoon nutmeg1 tablespoon light corn syrup1/3 cup unpopped Popeye PopcornGenerously grease cookie sheet. Use only a hand-turned popcorn popper for this recipe because all  ingredients must be agitated constantly.Combine all ingredients in popper, except popcorn. Stir well and heat until bubbling. Add popcorn; cover and shake constantly over medium heat until all corn is popped. Immediately pour onto greased cookie sheet to cool.Makes about 2 quarts.

Sweet Peanuts 'n' Popcorn1/3 cup margarine, melted1/4 cup confectioners' sugar1 cup dry roasted peanuts8 cups popped cornCombine margarine and sugar; stir in peanuts. Pour mixture over popcorn; stir to coat popcorn well. Turn mixture onto baking sheet. Bake at 325 degrees F  for 7 to 10 minutes, or until lightly crisp; stir once. Let stand on baking sheet, stirring once or twice as mixture cools. When thoroughly cool, divide into 8 sandwich bags.

Popcorn PastelsSource: Boy Scouts of America4 quarts popped popcorn1 1/2 cups granulated sugar1/2 cup light corn syrup2 tablespoons butter1/2 teaspoon salt1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar3 to 4 tablespoons gelatin powder, your choice of flavor1 teaspoon baking sodaPreheat oven  to 250 degrees F. Place popcorn in a large 4-inch deep buttered baking pan. Keep warm in the oven.Line 2 cookie sheets with wax paper and butter the paper.In a large saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, salt and cream of tartar. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook without stirring until mixture reads 250 degrees F on a candy thermometer. Stir in gelatin powder and cook another minute until it reaches 260 degrees F.Remove from heat, then stir in baking soda quickly. Remove popcorn from the oven. Pour syrup over top of popcorn while syrup is still foamy. Gently mix to coat popcorn. Bake at 200 degrees F for 1 hour, stirring 2 to 3 times. Turn onto buttered paper. Cool completely and store.

Sesame-Ginger Popcorn6 cups popped popcorn1 1/2 cups lightly salted cashews2/3 cup packed brown sugar2 tablespoons butter2 tablespoons light corn syrup1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil2 tablespoons sesame seed1 teaspoon vanilla extract1/2  teaspoon baking sodaPreheat oven to 300 degrees F.Remove all unpopped kernels from popped popcorn. Put popcorn and cashews into a greased 17 x 12 x 2-inch baking pan.In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, ginger and sesame oil. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils. Continue boiling at a moderate rate, without stirring, for 5 minutes more.Remove pan from heat. Stir in sesame seed, vanilla extract and baking soda. Pour mixture over popcorn mixture. Stir gently to coat. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown, stirring twice. Spread popcorn mixture on a large piece of buttered foil to cool. Store tightly covered.Yields 8 1/2 cups.

Molasses Peanut Popcorn3/4 cup unpopped popcorn1 cup roasted, salted peanuts1/2 cup butter or margarine1/2 cup molasses1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugarPreheat oven to 350 degrees F.Pop the corn.Place popped corn and peanuts in a roasting pan.In a saucepan, melt butter or  margarine; add molasses and sugar, and bring to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Pour mixture over popcorn and peanuts. Bake 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.Let cool to room temperature. Store in airtight containers. Lasts only a few days.Yields 4 quarts.

Vanilla Crunch1 quart popped corn2 cups very small bow-knot pretzels1 cup peanuts12 ounces vanilla bark or white chocolate, chopped fine** One 12 ounce bag semisweet chocolate chips may be substituted.In a large bowl, combine popcorn, pretzels and peanuts.Place bark in a  1-quart glass measuring cup. Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute; stir. Continue to cook on HIGH for another minute; stir again. Cook on HIGH for an additional 15 seconds and pour over popcorn mixture. Stir to coat evenly. Spread mixture on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Place in refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes, until chilled and chocolate is set.Break into small clusters. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.Makes about 2 quarts.

Put sugar, honey and corn syrup in a pan. Set the pan over medium heat. Bring to a full rolling boil. Stir sugar mixture carefully with a large wooden spoon for 3 minutes, then remove pan from heat. Add peanut butter and vanilla extract to hot syrup, being careful not to let syrup splatter. Stir with a wooden spoon until peanut butter is melted and smooth. Pour peanut butter mixture over popcorn and candies. Mix with 2 large spoons until popcorn is completely coated. Spoon onto a large pan and spread. Let cool. Break into bite-size pieces.
