North Wind

                                  
Some time ago

 I made for the North land

 Drawn by the wild

 To hazel eyes



 I thought I’d be tall

 When I made my stand

 But there was a child

 ‘Neath those northern skies



But this night is clear

 And so full of wonder

 Lord I am tired

 Of walking alone



 All of my dreams

They’re going under

 I carried my pride

 Like a weathered old stone



 I’ve had my fill

 Of chasing my shadow

 I wore him wound

And he wore me down



I miss the hills

 And soft, rolling, meadows

 I stayed a spell

 But I’m leaving this town



So come on boots

I know that you’re weary

I know how you long

To stay by her bed



But it’s many a mile

Foot loose and dreary

Back from the bush

To the woods you once tread



But, I’ve had my fill

 Ff chasing my shadow

 I wore him wound

And he wore me down



I miss the hills

 I stayed a spell

 But I’m leaving this town



Come on North Wind blow

Blow this dreamer away

And let no one ever know

How much I long to stay



Stand by the door

I pray that I’m ready

I’ve said it before

I mean it this time



My heart undone

My hand unsteady

Life left behind now

Where northern lights shine



I’ve had my fill

 Of chasing my shadow

 I wore him wound
